Maïdo between sky & ocean
Daybreak over the cirque of Mafate from the Maïdo viewpoint (2,200 m), then an afternoon of your choosing on the west coast: gardens, beaches or a Creole market. Complimentary snack at the top.
The island’s finest balcony
Heading for the western heights of Reunion Island. The road climbs through the tamarind forest up to the Maïdo viewpoint, facing the cirque of Mafate — that wild roadless cirque, reachable only on foot or by helicopter. After the morning panorama, we descend to the west coast and you choose your afternoon: culture, gardens, beaches or a Creole market.
Half-day option — 4 to 5 h · Sedan 290 € / Van 320 €
The Maïdo viewpoint, the snack and the return, in one morning. Pick-up only in the North and West of Reunion Island.
Your day at Maïdo
Climbing to the western heights
Pick-up at your accommodation — we recommend an early-morning start, without imposing it. The road climbs through the tamarind forest, in a coolness that contrasts with the coast.

Maïdo viewpoint (2,200 m)
A sweeping view, often above the clouds, over the cirque of Mafate — one of the wildest places in the world. This is where we share the complimentary morning snack, facing the panorama.

Lunch optional
At a restaurant, or with a stop along the way at a good bakery or snack bar we know, to put together your picnic. Lunch is not included in the price (see the options below).

On the west coast, your choice
Down to the coast and its lagoon. You build your afternoon from several options — culture & gardens, beaches & shore, or the Creole market (details just below).

Return to your accommodation
A relaxed return in the late afternoon, your head full of landscapes.

Why leave so early?
The viewpoint often clouds over by late morning. So we recommend leaving before sunrise for a clear view of Mafate — but the timing stays yours. At 2,200 m it’s cool even in summer: bring a jacket.

On a cruise or a port call?
We adjust the itinerary and stops according to your latest return time to the ship and the day’s traffic: depending on conditions, some places may be dropped or replaced so you can re-board on time. On this tour, we recommend a picnic rather than a restaurant — you save time and see as many sites as possible.
